Press Release

  • On 28 March, 4th edition of the “Platinum Megawatts” Media Competition is launched, which aims to recognise those journalists who have been consistently educating the public on issues concerning the liberalisation of the energy sector.
  • The Honorary Patronage over the competition has been extended by the President of Energy Regulatory Office. The Competition partners are: TAURON Polska Energia S.A. (Strategic Partner), PGNiG Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo S.A., Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne S.A., GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. and Izba Rozliczeniowa Giełd Towarowych S.A.

The Competition, which was initiated by TGE in 2014, crowns the whole year of regular work of journalists who have been consistently educating the public on issues concerning the functioning of the energy sector, and specifically the electricity, natural gas and property rights markets. The Award Committee will be composed of the representatives of institutions which, by their policy objectives, set the directions for the changes in these markets: PGNiG Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo S.A., Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne S.A., GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. and Izba Rozliczeniowa Giełd Towarowych S.A. The strategic partner of 4th edition of the Competition is TAURON Polska Energia. The Honorary Patronage over the Competition, similarly as in previous years, has been extended by the President of Energy Regulatory Office.

“Today's energy sector is transforming at an unprecedented pace, which we have not seen for decades. On one hand, we are faced with completely new problems related to innovation, e-mobility or digitalisation, on the other – changes in the regulatory environment demand deep knowledge, not only in the area of the energy law. Reliable and professional journalism is a valuable source of information which we use in our daily work, and also inspiration for new initiatives” – said Filip Grzegorczyk, President of the Management Board of TAURON Polska Energia S.A.

“We are about to see the fourth edition of the Competition which we organise together with our partners. This is a proof that the energy industry attaches great importance to the reliability of the communicated content, and we feel co-responsible for the development of the sector of which we are a part.  Together we want to promote journalism which, in the case of energy, requires not only specialist knowledge but also the ability to communicate it to the audience.” – said Piotr Zawistowski, TGE’s President of the Management Board.
