Exchange Information Platform – an important source of information about the electricity market

•    Since 3 July 2018, all energy groups have been publishing inside information also through RSS feeds, making the GPI the focal point for market participants’ communications.
•    The Exchange Information Platform (GPI) is a transparent and structured source of data on the electricity market in Poland.
•    The GPI platform is included in the official list of ACER European transparency platforms for inside information.

The Exchange Information Platform (GPI) offers the possibility for obliged market participants to disclose inside information in accordance with ACER guidelines. In order to ensure the completeness of the published information, on May 30 TGE enabled automatic publication of data using the companies’ RSS feeds. Before, some entities had published information on their own websites and since 3 July all power groups have been already publishing data via RSS feeds on the Exchange Information Platform. GPI has thus become an important source of data for power generators.

The Exchange Information Platform(www.gpi.tge.pl) was launched by the TGE on 27 February 2014. The GPI is a place where not only structured and transparent data concerning the energy system in Poland are published, but also where energy producers publish inside information in accordance with the provisions of Article 4 of the REMIT concerning scheduled and unscheduled availability of generation capacity, and, in the future, also availability of consumer equipment, i.e. all information that may affect the level of prices on the wholesale electricity market and trading decisions of market participants.

Since the launch of the platform, more than 13500 messages have been published in the Material Transaction Information system. Currently, 12 market participants report directly through the GPI: PGNiG TERMIKA S.A., Veolia Energia Poznań ZEC S.A., Veolia Energia Łodź S.A., TAMEH Polska Spółka z o.o., CEZ CHORZÓW S.A., CEZ SKAWINA S.A., PGE S.A. Capital Group, Zespół Elektrowni Pątnów - Adamów - Konin, Enea Wytwarzanie Sp. z o.o., ENEA Elektrownia Połaniec S.A., ENERGA Elektrownie Ostrołęka S.A. and the TAURON Group.

The GPI platform was developed in cooperation with representatives of the entire power sector under the auspices of the President of the Energy Regulatory Office. The work was carried out by the Working Group for the Exchange Information Platform set up for this purpose and composed of the following entities: Energy Regulatory Office (ERO), Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne S.A. (PSE), TAURON Polska Energia S.A., PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna S.A., Zespół Elektrowni Pątnów - Adamów - Konin S.A., Towarzystwo Handlu Energią and Towarowa Giełda Energii S.A. Cooperation was established with ACER (Agency for the Cooperation of the Energy Regulators) to ensure compliance with the requirements applicable to all the Member States.

In January 2015, the ARIS website (ACER REMIT Information System) was launched as the ACER central information point for REMIT. The ARIS website provides an official list of transparency platforms that publish inside information: https://www.acer-remit.eu/portal/list-inside-platforms. The Exchange Information Platform as a platform conforming to the requirements of ACER is included in this list.

The Exchange Information Platform gathers three groups of data:

•    Material Transaction Information
A system enabling entities obliged under the REMIT to publish information on scheduled and unscheduled capacity losses of generation facilities. These data are publicly available. As its integral part, it includes the list of generation capacity losses, updated on an ongoing basis through successive submissions of participants and the Transmission System Operator (TSO).

•    Power supply system data
The section of the GPI where information about planned and actual power demand is published, together with the generation volume needed to cover the demand. Daily, short-term and long-term plans are published here, as well as the balance of volumes traded through interconnections which are part of the internal European market.

•    Data from TGE’s markets
A section of the GPI which shows basic price indices and trading volumes on the markets run by TGE.
