X-Stream Trading

On 31 May 2017, TGE launched the new Nasdaq’s X–Stream Trading system. The new technology allows TGE to provide services at the highest quality level while ensuring the necessary flexibility to expand its operations with other commodity and derivative instruments in the future. The X–Stream Trading system allows TGE to provide comprehensive services for multiple markets and a broad range of orders and asset types, and to support market animators. Moreover it enables the implementation of strategies on the derivatives market, processing of market data and end-to-end risk management as well as holding positions in real time and exercising control and supervision over the market. Nasdaq’s solutions are among the most popular worldwide and provide capabilities to support up to 100,000 orders per second with an average delay of less than 40 microseconds.

SAPRI Trade

On 15 November  2017, TGE launched the SAPRI IT system provided by Nasdaq. The new technology is dedicated to support the day–ahead trading in the PCR (Price Coupling of Regions) framework. The SAPRI system facilitates the process of order placement in the PCR model and handles wide range of order types. SAPRI ensures full security of the trading system while enabling cooperation with other European commodity exchanges.

As a result of the changes introduced in the transaction system, TGE will offer transactions on the day–ahead electricity market in two sessions. During the morning session, only local transactions (from the Polish market) will be concluded, while the midday session will also comprise cross–border transactions in the PCR model (SwePol Link and LitPol Link interconnections). The technical exchange capabilities will result from the transmission capacity in each of the directions defined daily for each individual hour by Polish TSO, Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne SA. The new system will provide the opportunity to increase the standard of services offered by TGE and the convenience of the participation in the spot market.

M7 solution

On 19 November 19 November 2019, TGE inaugurated a cross-border SIDC market based on the XBID model, which couples domestic electricity Intraday Markets within the European Union and enables continuous trading among entities from a majority of countries in Europe. 

To this end, TGE had to implement local LTS (Local Trading Solutions) software for cooperation within the XBID model, and then implement the M7 solution by Deutsche Boerse AG, which enables trading on the SIDC Intraday Market for electricity. 

The SIDC-XBID solution is based on a joint trading system provided with a Shared Order Book (SOB), Capacity Management Module (CMM) and Shipping Module (SM) which is centrally managed by Deutsche Boerse AG. SIDC enables the matching of market participant’s orders under a continuous trading system with the orders placed in the same way by market participants in any other zone covered by the project, as long as transmission capacity is available. Ultimately, the integrated Intraday Market model will enable both implicit and explicit trading using the EUPHEMIA transaction mechanism used on the day-ahead market.
