TGE Extends Trading Hours on the Intraday Gas Market

Today

30-09-2026

Starting 30 September 2026, Polish Power Exchange (TGE) will extend trading hours on the Intraday Gas Market (IDMg) to 20:00. The change aims to provide greater flexibility in managing trading positions and to adapt the trading framework to the needs of the rapidly changing gas market.

The longer trading window will allow transactions to be concluded later in the day and enable a better response to information that affects market conditions, such as changes in gas demand forecasts, weather conditions or the availability of gas infrastructure.

Extended market access creates more opportunities to adjust gas portfolio positions on the day of delivery and supports the development of organised, transparent and regulated exchange trading. This will be crucial for all market participants, particularly electricity generators that use natural gas, who will be able to procure gas on the exchange until the evening. This will enable gas-fired power plants to respond flexibly to requests from the transmission system operator to generate electricity, potentially helping to lower electricity prices, especially in the evening.

The change could also boost trading activity and help further develop the gas market.

To sum up, the key benefits are:

  • extended market access on the delivery day,

  • greater flexibility in managing trading positions,

  • additional options for responding to current market conditions,

  • support for the development of the spot markets for gas and electricity and for transparent exchange trading.

Polish Power Exchange continues to develop solutions to support the domestic gas market, respond to participants' needs, and improve access to modern trading instruments.
