Enefit, the Estonian leader in electricity and gas trade becomes TGE member

Enefit, a subsidiary of the Eesti Energia group, the largest electricity producer in the Baltics has become a Member of the Commodity Market operated by Towarowa Giełda Energii (TGE).

Enefit Sp. z o.o. has been a licensed electricity and natural gas supplier in Poland since June 2017. With its offering, Enefit targets the largest industrial consumers as well as final consumers in the SME segment.

‘TGE provides access to a transparent market guarantees the reliability and safety of trading. The membership in the Exchange is an important yet natural step in the development of our strategy, which aims at the strengthening of our position on the Polish market’ said Maciej Kowalski, Managing Director of Enefit in Poland.

‘TGE plays an important role in the development of the single European energy market and the regional gas market. We stand out from the exchanges operating in neighbouring countries with our broad offering which combines a forward instruments market, spot markets for electricity and natural gas as well as a financial market. To us, the entry of such a large international player as Enefit onto our markets proves that we are heading in the right direction and become more and more recognizable. I hope that the potential of our new Member will be fully appreciated by the Polish market says Piotr Zawistowski, TGE’s President of the Management Board.

The activity of Enefit is mainly based on electricity and gas trade. At the end of 2017, the company’s portfolio grew by over 50 new corporate clients. Along with the development of its activities in Poland Enefit is planning to broaden its offering with additional services, including services based on smart metering or sales of electricity at prices depending on the moment of consumption (SPOT product). The company offers also electricity from renewable sources and photovoltaic solutions. In Q4 2017 Enefit signed a contract for electricity purchase from a wind farm. The plans to develop Enefit's activities in the RES segment are aligned with the strategy of the Eesti Energia group, which assumes the increase of the share of electricity generated from renewable sources in its portfolio to 40% in three years’ horizon.

Enefit is the 73rd Member of Towarowa Giełda Energii.
