On 1 December 2023, the President of the Energy Regulatory Office again designated TGE as the Nominated Electricity Market Operator (NEMO) for the Polish bidding zone. The status was first granted to the Exchange in 2015, then upheld in 2019 and, following an application for repeated designation submitted by TGE in August, extended for further four years, i.e. until December 2027.
The key task of the NEMO is to ensure the proper functioning of a common electricity market in Europe through the development and maintenance of algorithms, systems and procedures related to the cross-border market coupling mechanism, electricity price setting, as well as the processing of received input data on available cross-border transmission capacities and their effective allocation at the points of congestion.
