On 30 June 2021, a training course addressed to the employees of quality control laboratories at grain delivery collection points and mills was held.
The meeting was organised by Towarowa Giełda Energii (TGE) in cooperation with Professor Wacław Dąbrowski Institute of Agricultural and Food Biotechnology — National Research Institute.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has extended honorary patronage over the initiative.
The participants of the training, which was attended by 18 member companies of the Authorised Warehouses System (SMA) of the TGE’s Agricultural Exchange Market, had the opportunity to learn about various aspects concerning the evaluation of organoleptic properties of grain according to the Polish Standard PN-R74013:2012, determination of contaminants and pests according to the Polish Standard PN-R-74015:1994, use of measuring and control equipment in the laboratory and the principles of correct operation of grain moisture meters and NIR analysers. A sampling expert’s licence obtained by passing the exam will result in the entry to the Register of Experts kept by the Inspectors of Agri-Food Products Commercial Quality Inspectors in each Voivodeship.
“The initiative is perfectly in line with the TGE’s mission with the education of market participants being one of its underpinnings. The trainings offered within the framework of the Agricultural Exchange Market are meant to broaden the participants’ knowledge but support the objectives of the Agricultural Exchange Market itself, including the transaction safety aspects, transparency and assurance of product quality” said Piotr Zawistowski, President of the Management Board of TGE.
The online session was organised as part of a series of educational meetings initiated by TGE in May. It is addressed to participants and associates of the Agricultural Exchange Market and aims to develop professional qualifications in areas related to, inter alia, laboratory analytics, sampling of agri-food products and determination of quality classes of specific products. Companies taking part in the trainings gain the necessary knowledge and competences that can be applied by their own personnel.
The role of the educational platform is also appreciated by TGE’s partners and associates. The parties involved in the June edition of the series included the Institute of Agricultural and Food Biotechnology, which led the event, as well as the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the honorary patron of the training. This shows that TGE has taken the right direction for its initiative which is highly valued by external institutions.
