• June volumes for natural gas increased YoY both on the forward market – up by 19.6 per cent to 8,410,503 MWh and on the spot market – up by 24.5 per cent to 945,754 MWh.
• Electricity volumes traded on TGE in June were lower than one year ago – by 30.7 on the forward market (with volume falling to 6,831,759 MWh), and by 17.3 per cent on the spot market (1,876,401 MWh).
Natural gas
The volume of transactions concluded on natural gas markets in June totalled 9,356,257 MWh, which translates to a YoY growth by 20.1 per cent. Higher volumes, as compared to June 2016, were observed on each of the three markets for deliveries of the commodity.
On the Commodity Forward Instruments Market with Physical Delivery (CFIM), the volume reached 8,410,503 MWh of gas, which represents a growth by 19.6 per cent. On the Day-Ahead and Intraday Market (DAM&IDMg) the volume totalled 945,754 MWh i.e. was 24.5 per cent higher than in June of last year. The spot market volume was constituted by 656,928 MWh traded on DAMe (increase by 17.4 per cent YoY) and 288,826 MWh on Dim (increase by 44.3 per cent YoY).
The weighted average price on DAM&IDMg in June fell to 68.25 PLN/MWh, which means that it was lower by 6.10 PLN/MWh than in May. On CFIM, the weighted average price of a contract with delivery in 2018 (GAS_BASE_Y-18) was 77.21 PLN/MWh, i.e. 0.65 PLN/MWh below the quotations of this contract in May.
The volume of natural gas trade in the first half of 2017 totalled 54,259,287 MWh, of which 39,600,351 MWh (approx. 73 per cent) was represented by the CFIM volume, with spot market transactions accounting for 14,658,936 MWh. Comparing to the first half of the year 2016, this means a decrease on the CFIM by 15.6 per cent and an increase on the spot market by 19.1 per cent.
Electricity
In June, the volume of electricity trade at TGE totalled 8,708,160 MWh, and was lower by 28.2 per cent than in June 2016. On the sport market, the volume dropped on a year-on-year basis by 17.3 per cent (to 1,876,401 MWh) and on CFIM by 30.7 per cent (6,831,759 MWh).
In June, the weighted average price of the BASE contract on the Day Ahead Market was 154.05 PLN/MWh going down by 0.10 PLN/MWh below the previous month's level. On the CFIM, the price of the contract with base load delivery in 2018 (BASE_Y-18) averaged 163.57 PLN/MWh, which means an increase by 0.38 PLN/MWh comparing to the quotations of this contract in May.
The volume of electricity trade in the first half of 2017 totalled 46,893,637 MWh, of which 34,022,122 MWh (nearly 73 per cent) was represented by the CFIM volume, with spot market transactions accounting for 12,871,515 MWh. Comparing to the first half of 2016, this means an overall decline by 29.3 per cent.
Property Rights
The volume of electricity property rights traded in June totalled 4,195,413 MWh. This means a decrease by 2.9 per cent comparing to the result for June of last year.
The volume of trade in green certificates alone (PMOZE and PMOZE_A instruments on the Property Rights Market and instruments traded on the CFIM) amounted to 2,289,306 MWh, falling below the June 2016 level by 0.5 per cent. The weighted average price for the PMOZE_A instrument traded during the PRM sessions was 24.38 PLN/MWh, i.e. was lower by 8.69 PLN/MWh than in May.
The June volume for blue certificates reached 51,651 MWh. The bulk of it – 41,368 MWh – was generated during market sessions where the weighted average price was 369.57 PLN/MWh.
The volume for property rights related to energy efficiency totalled 24,855 toe (of which nearly 23,658 toe for the PMEF instrument), against 13 toe in June of last year. The weighted average price during market sessions for the PMEF instrument went up by 3.87 PLN/toe Moms, to the level of 909.76 PLN/toe.
In the entire first half of 2017, the volume of transactions concerning property rights for electricity totalled 34,112,245 MWh, of which green certificates accounted for 14,445,754 MWh (42 per cent) and red ones for 14,992,317 MWh (nearly 44 per cent).
Comparing to the first half of the year 2016, this means a slightly lower share of green and red certificates in the overall volume (respectively 43 and 46 per cent at that time) and the total volume higher by 9.6 per cent (against 31,128 698 MWh in H1 2016). The volume of trade in blue certificates concerning the production of electricity from farm biogas, which in the first half of 2016 were not yet separated from other RES, reached 361,904 MWh by the end of June.
Guarantees of Origin Register
In June 2017, the volume of transactions concluded in the Guarantees of Origin Register totalled 679,966 MWh, with a weighted average price of 0.46 PLN/MWh.
New participants
At the end of June, 70 companies enjoyed the status of the member of the Commodity Market (CM).
As at 30 June 2017, the Certificate of Origin Register maintained by Towarowa Giełda Energii had 3243 members with 31 of them joining in the month of June.
There are 309 entities registered as the members of the Guarantees of Origin Register.
